Privacy · the free tools

What the tools store, and what leaves your device.

The free tools are local-first: your data stays in your browser unless you export it yourself. This page is the tool-by-tool detail. The site’s privacy policy and data policy apply to the website around them; the controller named in the Impressum is responsible for both.

CVMate

Your CV	Saved in this browser’s local storage under one key, on this device only. It is not sent to Exzellent or to anyone else. There is no account sync.
The job ad you paste	Analysed in the page, in your browser. It is not stored and not sent anywhere.
Exports	PDF (through your browser’s print dialog), Word (.doc) and the JSON backup are files you download. They contain your personal data; keep them accordingly.
Deleting	“Delete everything saved here” removes the stored CV. Clearing site data for exzellent.co in your browser does the same.
Analytics on the page	The page loads Plausible, the cookieless, EU-hosted page-view counter the whole site uses. It counts that the page was opened; it never sees the CV.

Exzellent Focus (Chrome extension, beta)

Stored	Your block list, study-hours schedule, the morning-splash setting, your daily goal and your statistics (dodges today and in total, streak), in Chrome’s extension storage on your computer.
Sent	Nothing. The extension makes no network requests and contains no analytics or error reporting. Blocking is done by rules Chrome evaluates itself; the extension does not read the pages you visit.
Site access	Chrome asks you to grant access to each site on your block list, because a redirect rule needs it. Access is used for that redirect only.
Deleting	Removing the extension removes everything it stored.

Exzellent LinguaCC (Chrome extension, beta)

Stored	Your language settings, translation choice and phrasebook (saved caption lines with the video title, link and date), in Chrome’s extension storage.
Read	The caption text on youtube.com and netflix.com pages while a video plays. Nothing on other sites.
Sent	In demo mode, nothing. With a LibreTranslate server you set up, each caption line is sent to that server’s address and nowhere else; that server’s operator sees the lines. The unofficial translate endpoint the prototype used is removed. An Exzellent translation service does not exist yet; if it is built, this page will say what it logs.
Exporting and deleting	Export CSV downloads the phrasebook. Delete any line in the phrasebook, or remove the extension to delete everything.

Your rights

Because the tools keep data on your device, access, export and deletion are in your hands and take effect immediately. Questions about the website, or about data Exzellent does hold for you as an account holder, go through the contact page; the privacy policy names the controller and your rights under the GDPR.
